Uber Scandal: The darkness is now shrouding Uber

Uber Scandal: Banned in Italy

The Uber scandal has gone global as the company recently faced a numerous fierce and sometimes violent opposition in various parts of the world. Apparently, Uber is banned from operating and advertising in Italy nationwide due to its “constituted unfair competition” for traditional taxis, ruled by a Rome court. This ride-hailing company has ten days to shut down its services on Italian territory; otherwise, it could face a fine of 10,000 euros ($10,600) for each day it remains in defiance of the court.

Italian taxi drivers have been protesting against Uber’s presence in the country regarding its disruptive technology, scandal and highly controversial ideology. Unlike normal taxi drivers, Uber’s drivers can purchase licenses in small towns where they cost less, and use them to work in cities while Italian taxi drivers are highly regulated with severe limits on availability of taxi licenses. Last year, this US ride-sharing business’s Pop service was made illegal by a judge in Milan for the same reason.

Uber: Forced to allow in-app tippings by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission

Since the company’s inception, Uber has wrangled with drivers who have criticized its executives for not adding a tipping option, but this would all change as Uber could soon be forced to allow credit card-based tips – a feature it has long avoided, according to The New York Times.

After the Uber scandal around tipping, it doesn’t look like this ride-sharing company will be afforded a second chance to do it right. Likewise, this would creep into the passengers’ mind that an Uber ride isn’t quite so cheap as advertised, and an invisible barrier is about to be raised to prevent the customers from using Uber!
